The right factory makes a brand; the wrong one costs a season. Here is the checklist we recommend every buyer use before placing a first order in China.
Ask whether the factory owns its sewing lines or subcontracts. Factories that produce in-house control quality, lead time and communication. A factory tour - virtual or in person - should show cutting, sewing, finishing and inspection in one place.
Order a sample before bulk. A serious factory returns a sample in 7-10 days with clear comments on fabric, fit and decoration. The sample should match bulk because the same line and spec file are used.
100 pcs per style per color is a fair low MOQ for custom apparel. Ask what changes at 300, 1,000 and 5,000 pcs so you can plan growth pricing, not just first-order pricing.
Confirm the inspection standard (AQL 2.5 is the common bar), whether photos are sent before dispatch, and what happens with defective pieces.
